lost data on SD card due to switching between devices

I just came back from a trip to Iceland where I switched a SD card back and forth between my old HP photosmart 735 and my canon ixus 40.

Trying to transfer the photo's and video's to my laptop, the folder on the card which should contain the HP photo's, is empty. The canon folder works perfectly. Even when putting the card back in the HP photosmart, the HP photo's seem to be lost. Only the photo's shot with the canon remain. However, the display shows that the card is full. So I hope the photo's are still on it.

Can anybody tell me how I can rethreive the files?

    Thanks in advance.

You could download an evaluation copy of photo rescue to see if the images are still on the card. If they are, you would then have to buy($29) the program to retrieve them.

MSDOS has a command: recover, which might help.
