    compatible with Mac?

    Hello out there! Is the software for the DSC-HX9V Mac compatible?

    Not that I am aware of. I would expect that you would have no problems just using iphoto or imovie

    so....

    so just plug in and go? this is my first digital camera, so i apologize for what probably seems like a dumb question!

    If you plug the camera into your Mac with a USB cable the Mac will probably just start up iPhoto automatically.
    Personally I use card readers. Take the card out of the camera and put it into the card reader (they cost about $5) and then connect that to the USB slot on the Mac. Using card readers saves battery life on the camera and reduces the possibility (albeit a remote one) of damaging the camera or computer with and electrical short when connecting the USB cable.
    Use a couple of cards and rotate them (just number then 1,2,3 sort of thing). That way you will not be overwriting the last images that you took immediately and you can retrieve them from the card if anything goes wrong on the computer.
