    Minolta 75-300 Big Beercan

I own a Minolta 5D and I just received my Minolta 75-300mm Big Beercan Lens. Could someone please explain to me the function of the Focus Limiter and how do I use it.
    Thanks...

The focus limiter will limit the focus range the lens will go through... so either from mid range to infinity, or from close up to mid range.

Why? Only to save focus time, especially when the lens/camera has a hard time getting a focus lock and would hunt through the entire range otherwise.
