    Black White Flashing on LCD

I recently purchased a D80 and have been taking some landscape shots. After going out yesterday I noticed some pictures display sections that flash black on the LCD screen. The flashing section is usually a very bright part of the image (i.e, sunlight thru trees).
This afternoon the flashing has gone away. Is there a setting I may have enabled and disabled without knowing?

It's the highlight feature on your LCD, which is changed via the up/down buttons on the four-way controller. The highlights display is one of four display modes available in addition to normal playback. The others are histogram (very useful), Info I and Info II.
