I bought an Olympus C310 last Christmas for my daughter.

A couple of weeks ago the lens ceased to extend.

No sign of any problem on outside, batteries fully charged etc so eventually sent in for repair.

It came back some time later with the explanation "not repared, total loss !!!water infiltration!!! >>>no guarantee<<<".

Not best pleased my wife called Olympus who said that the technician opened it up and found it was corroded.

The camera has certainly not been immersed in water, nor had water spilt on it. I am at a loss what to do as I cannot get inside the camera to check the story. Even if it is corroded when did the problem occur? Why is Olympus putting corrodable parts in their cameras?

Any comments, similar stories, suggestions gratefully received.

Makes a mockery of guarantees and warranties doesn' it?
