Those are very nice photos. I'm still trying to learn this camera. I assume you used a tripod for both of those shots?

Nope, no tripod. Thats the best thing about the S1, with the IS, you can take a lot of shots without a tripod that you could not take without the IS.
I'm deployed to Qatar right now with the AF and I didnt have room to bring a tripod anyway. I am going to get a good one when I get home for taking night shots.
For the moon picture, I just rested the camera against my leg while sitting on a bench.
The sunset picture was just handheld.

That one is my best of the moon so far. That one had much more detail to it than most of the ones I have taken. I have tried to duplicate it with different shutter speeds and aperature settings, but no luck. It must have been just the right angle of light that night or something..I do have some more sunset pics that turned out well though.

Here is one of a C-17 getting ready to taxi.

This was a time lapse shot at 10 to 12 seconds if I remember correctly. A four foot ladder was the tripod. :D
