Well I got the lens today, of course its raining outside but snapped this shot @ ISO 1600 1/50 f/5.6 free hand. Had the camera set to center point AF on the coffee cup|125mm and a distance of 24"|lighting one T-5 8 watt warm white fluorescent bulb side lit by one 52 watt incandescent:

You gotta say the image quality @ ISO 1600 is pretty darn nice.

Hey Bluedog!

It's still early! Set up some stuff, I don't know, some kitchen utensils or something and take some more shots...

If that lens is half as good as it seems, then I challenge anyone to say that that XT/Sigma isn't as good as any other camera/lens combo out there (execpt, of course for the Canon Mark II and maybe the Kodak DCS Pro).

Well it looks like we have a winner combo. The XT with the Sigma 18-125 looks almost as good as it does with the D70. Glad to see it. A massive improvement over the kit lens.

Bluedog-

Thanks for the photo. It sure looks a whole lot better than the Sigma 125mm that I had and returned. I will be interested to some more photos. Thanks for taking the time.

Well George I'll have to give you credit on leaning me toward the Sigma ... ;) ... I just need to get out and do some more testing around with it. Pouring down buckets fulls right now so hopefully the weather will get better and I can get it outside. Working on finishing up my Federal Taxes at the moment ...

The colors seem more natural than with the Canon Kit lens to me.

Like I said it seems to work as well as mine. The only thing between you and the sunshine is Texas (and New Mexico), so we'll try to send some your way. Today was around 80 with 12% humidity (up from 8% yesterday). I don't envy you that task, the government hath returneth this year, but the CFO paid off bills with my lens money. :( Guess the 18-125 will have to go another year.
