Wow

Gotta say I love the quality. Even at 800x600 I can zoom in several steps and it still looks good. Is that due to the SD500 or some special resizing technique of smug mug?

Lighting and color are incredible! Love the ghost image of the Mustang in the first shot, though the third is perfect. The colors really reach out of that one! :)

This is from my trip to St. Augustine today.

Macro Settings: I believe these would classify as a type of Amaryllis if I'm not mistaken. Either way, it was very beautiful.

Thanks for sharing these shots. I was thinking that the flowers may be Hibiscus? Great colours and the shadows add to the drama - all very operatic.

Had a look at the shots on your link. Really wished I had taken the one of the lighthouse appearing over the trees. Very creative, the red against the green foliage with the dark grey shadow against the white all set off with an azure background - WOW. If you can spare a copy of the original I would be thrilled.

Thanks once more

ricekiller-

I believe wombat is correct in stating those flowers are hibiscus. The photos show great Canon color.

You can have all the originals you'd like. Just click on the picture to enlarge it in its own window. Where it says "Your preferred photo size is large. Make it ...", click original and save.

Here's a new one on macro. There are a few things that could've been better...but I like the detail you can see in the eyes. Enjoy!

Very nice with the SD500. I noticed in some of your photos the White Balance is listed as Manual and in other nothing is listed. Is that accurate or are you using the Auto mode?

Alot of these, I am using the auto mode for the white balance. I've had it for 5 days, so I'm still learning :D
