I read earlier about this guy who insists that the E18 error is just a myth. May I just convey my sad experience with regard to this. I just bought an IXUS 40 in Manila in preparation for my trip to Los Angeles, California. All was well while I was in Manila and was able to take a couple of pix and even short videos.

Unfortunately, as soon as I landed in LA, the lens just suddenly wouldn't retract anymore. When you switch it on, the LCD just shows Canon for about 2 seconds and conks out after showing a blank LCD with E18. Lens do not even retract. Much to my dismay, I wasn't able to take any pictures in LA. I even showed it to a Canon dealer who confirmed it is a lemon.

When I got back to Manila, after 2 days, WALA!! it suddenly works again!!

Might it be the weather, the pressure or just purely an inferior product !!

Can you repost in the DCRP E18 error thread (http://www.dcresource.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3810) please? No need for another one here. Thanks!
