View Full Version : low light question

Untill recently I've never purchased a Canon before although I have an Epson 3000Z camera. I have just purchased a Canon Powershot A510, and noticed some focusing problems in a room where all the lights are off and the windows allow daytime light from the cloudy Bay Area weather to enter. I'm thinking of exchanging the A510 for a Canon A85 soon, but could you give me more information about your experiences with low light focus between the A510 and the A85? You did mention that the A510 did horribly in low light focus. What type of objects did you try to focus in low light with the AF assist lamp? And at how many feet?

Sorry for posting this at various places.
I took zoomed picture of part of a stove (stove.jpg).
Royal1.jpg is the result I got with the AF assist light on.
Royal2.jpg is the result I got when I used manual focus.
Changing focusing mode to macro didn't correct things so I don't think my camera was too close to the object.
