Hello All,

I have an Olympus Tough 8000. I find that when taking photos with the flash in Auto it takes horrible pictures. Always overexposed and I can't figure out why. Maybe there is a setting I'm missing.

On manual I can take pics no problem but I understand the settings my wife doesn't and she doesn't like the camera because of this issue.

Here are some examples. First example is on Auto. Second example is manual setup on red eye flash and lower exposure comp.

I can say that this camera takes amazing pictures in the day and the macro feature is exceptional (way better than my old Sony).

Thanks in advance,

Your subject is mostly black, with a small amount of lighter skin. The camera is trying to make the scene medium gray, therefore overexposing.

They don't look too bad, actually.

Do you use any software on them?

I have Photoshop CS4 but my sony would take perfect shots day or night. I miss that camera I hate that it got stolen :(.

I know they aren't horrible but sometimes the overexposure is way worse. The second one is good because I manually set all the settings.

And thank you for your response!
