View Full Version : A1 versus A2

With all that I've learned in these forums, I have a question regarding these two cameras.

The A2 has 8MP, and the A1 has 5MP, but they both have the same size CCD. Thus, doesn't the A1 have better signal to noise ratio than the A2?

As I'm sure Minolta would claim that the image quality is better in the A2 (no doubt through advanced "image processing technology"), does anyone know whether Minolta has somehow counteracted the fact that the pixels in the A2 are smaller (significantly) than the A1?

And, looking at prices, some places sell the A2 cheaper than the A1, and many places don't carry the A1 or are out of stock. Does that mean anything?

well..... all i know is that a2 is noiser than a1, softer than a1, and a2 has poor quality control, which means you have a greater chance of getting an a2 which has problems,.
