I have a chance to pick up a Nikon 60mmF/2.8D AF micro lens for a couple hundred. Is this a good lens to use for modeling shoots? Is this a good all around closeup lens. I am hoping the experts on here can give me some guidance on finding a good tight budget lens for shooting people.

yepp. its a great lens for macro and a wonderul portrait lens. imo the tamron 90mm is a better option but it will be more expensive and less useful for indoors cos of the longer focal length.

Thank You now you have given me another lens to look into also. I am going to pick up the 60 and look into the 90 also. One can never have too many lenses LOL

I don't know if the older lens has the 9 rounded blade diaphram of the newer AF-S model. If not, bokeh would be the one possible limitation for portrait work.
