Im going to be taking some pics at a firework display tonight, i have done it before (handholding a P+S) lol needless to say the results were shocking. But this time im taking my d40 and a tripod, so hopefully gonna get some good uns! Any tips would be great.

I've read this article 'http://digital-photography-school.com/blog/how-to-photograph-fireworks/' and found it informative. The only thing im concerned about is getting the focus right as its gonna be dark, so inparticular any tips for that would be good. Im taking the 18-55dx kit lens and my nikkor 70-300 - theres a chance im gonna be quite far away so the telephoto may have to be used.

So yeah any tips would be massively appreciated! And i promise il put up some shots on here tmrw for yall to review.

There's a bunch of firework tip threads if you do a search. You'll probably need to be focused to infinity. Infinity isn't quite all the way at one end.
