I haven't found much about this lens on the forum, and I would like to know how it compares to the Nikkor 18-200mm VR? Obviously it doesn't have vibration reduction, and has a little more reach, but I don't find myself using VR that too much on the lenses I do have. I'm just looking for a good walk around lens for when I go on vacations and whatnot and don't feel like swapping lenses. Also looking for other suggestions.

Thanks.

I haven't had too much experience with the Tamron 18-250, but I thought the Nikkor 18-200 was great on my D40 and D300.

I can't answer your question about this specific lens, but I thought I'd let you know that Tamron just announced an 18-270 with Vibration Reduction (VC)...

See this thread...

ANNOUNCING THE TAMRON AF18-270MM Di II VC ULTRA HIGH POWER ZOOM LENS A Technological Breakthrough-World's Longest Range 15X Zoom Lens Has Exclusive Built-In Vibration Compensation Mechanism Optimized For Consumer Digital SLR Cameras

In addition to that, Tamron also has a 28-300 VC that works with FX as well. That has been pretty highly regarded in terms of sharpness, image quality, and bokeh, but a bit disappointing in distortion. I haven't used it, but I've heard good things about it.

I'd rather have the 18-270, but it won't work on my FX sensor. If the 18-270 is anything like the 28-300, that would be nice.

18-270 is a nice 27-405mm in 35mm! I wish I could have that focal length... oh well.
