It was a long weekend for me. 6 hours on Sat and another 6 on Sun, but every minute worth it. Saturday we shot Christy, who is actually signed up on Model Mayhem as a makeup artist. She had a great attitude considering we were shooting on a pretty hot day, and it was a good 6 hours between start and finish...

More shots of Christy will be on my flickr site as I work on them...

Sunday, Briana (another makeup artist) and Eva came by. We got some shots of them both. Eva is from Slovakia and is such a sweetheart. Briana you've seen before (if you saw my last post of her)...

Here's Eva...

I'm still working on the photos (have so many) and will be posting more on my flickr site (http://www.flickr.com/photos/swgod98/) if you are interested.

Thanks for looking :)

Most of the shots are from the same angle, so nothing very revealing over what is already posted. The car wasn't originally a part of the schedule for the day :) But, the owner saw us shooting and came by to see what was up and let us use his Z06 for for a few shots :D

haha, it's funny you say that, because I am often thinking the same thing of other peoples lives. 8 months ago, I wasn't doing any modeling shoots (just workshops here and there to learn). It took a small investment in lighting equipment, but it really started once I signed up with Model Mayhem. Start simple. Work your way up.

Thanks everyone.

I made some comments on your flickr. Although the yellow backgrounds of your last shoot really popped and made for some eye-catching photos, I think that this shoot really moved it up a notch.

And do you have tips for that amazing skin smoothing?

Thanks toriaj. The skin smoothing technique is one I found a while back. I believe it was posted in here at some point as well. If you have Photoshop:

1) duplicate layer
2) set top layer to overlay mode
3) invert top layer
4) run filter -> high pass filter. The trick at this point is to make the skin (and only the skin) look smooth and creamy (disregard the rest of the photo)
5) now run a gaussian blur filter. This basically somewhat undoes the high pass filter smoothing effect. Adjust as needed.
6) put a hide all layer mask on the top layer. This will make it disappear.
7) draw back in the layer just over the skin areas

The trick is in adjusting 4 and 5. The more you do it, the more you'll get used to it.

It is important to fix all the unwanted skin defects prior to this process, however since this is mostly there to smooth out the uneven skin tones and cover up small small defects.

Hope that helps.

I hate you too, Rooz :P You're the one who made me buy a D300 :D I bet you'll also make me buy a D700

I hate him too right now Rooz... And I thought I was the lucky devil... blast you swgod98!!! Oh and curse your D300 too while I'm at it!! lol

By the way I like the other corvette shot on your flickr stream better. Something about the pose adds some sass to the image.

Eva's face is too smooth in my honest opinion but great shoot :)

Thanks Fiasco. I was torn between the two, because I like the hat and gold jacket so much. But, ya...I think the pose in that second Corvette shot is pretty good.

There's a fine line that I typically try not to cross. But, with so many photos, I often don't take as much time with them as I otherwise could. I mean...with enough time a turtle can turn into a faerie, right? :D But, I'm not that good haha

I appreciate the input.

Fantastic shots swgod, the reflection on the floor works really well for these.
