Hello

I just purchased a Nikon 12-24 F4 Lens. This is my first wide angle lens. I am quite happy with it. What software other than PS does everyone recommend in correcting distortion. Unfortunately I only have LR. It doesn't really do anything for it.

thank you!

PTL Lens is a good suggestion. Also, Nikon Capture NX has some distortion correction capabilities.

As a technical point - the 12-24 is a super wide to wide angle zoom. It's 35mm equivalent is 18mm - 36mm. The kit lens that came with your camera is a wide angle to short telephoto (I'm guessing 18-55mm, which is equivalent to 27-82.5mm in 35mm angle of view).

Shooting a super wide can be hard to learn. The very first thing you will need to learn is that the camera wants to be dead level (Obviously, a generalization, but seriously, learn to do this first, and it will make it much easier when you decide, for artistic reasons, to get off level). This will help you avoid severe distortions, which will reduce the amount of post processing you need to do. It will also prevent you from taking pictures of your shoes. ;-)

Thank you Xailo. Great program and love the price!

Eric

you are correct in the technical term. Thank you for your suggestion. I am definitely new at this. Some distortion are almost impossible to correct. I will think of what you said on the next attempt. thanks!
