D90, that's so yesterday. :)

From Thom Hogans web site (http://www.bythom.com/).

"Right now Nikon is in a very curious position. They've got four 12mp cameras on the market (D90, D300, D700, D3). Since the D60 looks a little non-competitive now, one can envision a 12mp D60x with Live View added as well as the 12mp sensor. Twelve is the magic number, I guess."

So who is going to delay their D90 purchase and save some money on the D60x?

Have a nice speculative weekend everybody.

It looked a bit non competetive when it was released.

Yea, cause with a little more $, you can get the more superior D80. Perhaps when the D80 is discontinued, the D60 will start to sell more.

Glad I eBayed my D80 when I did (few months ago), and stepped up to the 300. I got out while the getting was good...and got good $$$ for my 80. No D60 plans for this dog. Just looking to get the D3 at some point in my life:)

Not me. There is a lot more to these cameras than the sensor. It's very important to me, but there is still plenty of reason to buy the 90 over the 60, and the 300 over the 90.

If the D60x have the following:

12 meg cmos.
Live view
Video Mode
5 focus point
3.5 fps

and $650. I would consider it :)

If the other entry level dSLRs don't come down in price, I don't think a replacement for the D60 will be a priority.

There was a new flash but I think more are interested in lens updates. This year, Nikon's lens releases (from dpreview) were:

AF-S DX Nikkor 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR
AF-S Micro Nikkor 60mm f/2.8G ED
PC-E Nikkor 24mm f/3.5D ED
AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-105MM F/3.5-5.6G ED VR
PC-E Micro 45 mm and 85 mm lenses

Maybe only 2 of them are what most typical users would get for general and frequent use.
