I partook in the photo walk today in Melbourne Florida. I must say that I had a great time and met some great people.

Anyone else go out today for the walk?

This was my first time shooting in RAW and I must say WOW!!!! I love it and will probably never shoot JPEG again. Went out for an hour and a half and only took around 200 pictures.

Here are my submissions for the event... ( I got a little excited and submitted 17 photos) ANY C/C on my images is welcome with an open mind...I am always looking to improve!

Couple of really nice captures, Homeless man wow they always have so much character in their faces. Green pipe has a great look to it, chained kegs with the rust adds nice interest. Your wife would make an excellent model for portaiture work, very pretty. I can not talk mine into letting me take photos of her at all. :(

I did the Photo Walk today too. Got back a couple of hours ago and tried to download them into my photoediting software and it's not working right.

But I'm too tired to figure out the problem tonight, so I'll work on it tomorrow. :) Ours was nighttime and I've never shot at night before.

I agree with rawpaw. Some great shots on there. The homeless guy (i assume) was really good. Great expression.
I also like the wood and metal heap as well as the green pipe.

However, the panoramic (horizontal) is quite blown out (since you were shooting into the sun) and lacks foreground interest and has very little colour. Maybe in black and white it would look better with some careful cropping at the bottom of the frame.

Did you use the lenses in your sig? Seem to get some shallow DOF which I wouldnt expect from either of those lenses.

Lovelly series. You've got a great eye picking topics I'd never have even thought of. As an engineer I love the way you've photographed a non return valve and turned it into art!

She didn't know I was taking the pictures...:p

I am so glad mine wasn't at night...I have done a lot of shooting at night and am not terribly horrible at it, but I would really want faster glass.

I am not too happy with it. I wanted to mess with it in lightroom but it wouldn't let me import it, kept saying it was too big. I also thought about black and white...and really wasnt happy enough to put time into it.

All the ones that show a lot of DOF were done with the 55-200...I have managed to get pretty god at showing depth with it. I shoot in AP and keep it at F4 when trying to show a lot of DOF. Actually come to think of it...they were all with the lense except one of the wood pile pictures.

I am assuming that is what the green pipe is. I just found it interesting that it was right in the middle of the sidewalk. Another lady on the walk to a fantastic shot of it also.

You can see his here...I like his take on it a lot!

Thank you all for the compliments...I had a great time and am hoping it is something they plan more often. I know the people in the group were talking about trying to do one monthly or every couple months.

I must admit I love my 55-200. Straight out of camera it is SHARP, good contrast and fast to focus. I really think thats my best deal!

Whoa Rich! You picked 3 of the ones I wanted to comment on.

Excellent. I love how you make regular things seem so interesting.
