Contemplating the 17-55mm 2.8 vs the SB-900.

In my camera bag already: D300, 70-200mm VR, 12-24mm f/4, 50mm F/1.4, 18-200mm VR, SB-600.

Leaning towards the lens. Convince me either way...

How limited do you feel limited by the SB600?

600 not very limiting, just knowing I'll need backup flash for wedding photography. And the 900 offers more power and flexibility. The 600 will be used as backup and remote flash.

It looks to me that the 17-55 overlaps a bit with your 12-24mm lens.

I am guessing that the AF-S 24-70mm f/2.8 is out of your price range? Seems to be that this would be a better fit.

Yes, at this time in my life the 24-70mm f/2.8 is out of my price range. Love my 50mm, but often find myself backing up to fit all in the frame. The 18-200mm is good all-around lens, but just not fast enough in certain situations. I'm not huge fan of flash, prefering natural lighting. But I know I need to get better at flash.

I've been reading this, which is just for TTL:

Maybe this helps?
