The GT-R my friend ordered months ago finally arrived. We took it out and did a shoot this evening and got some good results. Here is the first photo I've completed.

Shot with:
D80 and 28-70mm at f/4.5 1/13th handheld and ISO100
2 SB-800's each in an umbrella set at 1/1 fired via CLS.

Great shot and great car. Maybe a 1/4 CTO gel on the flashes to give slightly warmer light to match the sunset might have worked.

Beautifully executed. Shot at the perfect time of evening.

And, gotta love the CLS...

Thanks for all of the comments. I really should invest in a gel kit... I'm really leaning towards picking up another SB-800. I could have used some more fill light during that last shoot.

re 1/13th.. I forgot my tripod which I never use anyway.. and the ambient was quickly going away. I tried to keep my DOF so I had to go super slow on the shutter. I'm surprised they came out that clear too ;)

I really should invest in a gel kit...)What's to invest? A mere $20. Works like a charm!

Very nice shots indeed. I actually prefer the rear shot to the front. Also the last interior shot is sweet.

And i hate to be an uber geek, but it's not actually a skyline anymore. They dropped the name so that people wouldn't get it confused with the other skyline they make. Which is just a bog standard car.:)

Haha, maybe next time you guys can nitpick my photo rather than what I named the post.

The car is an R35 which is obviously the next number in the Skyline lineup of cars. I guess I should be more careful around the car snobs here. At least I can say that I raped the holy hell out of it in R mode and no one else here has or probably ever will.

Awesome pictures and colors. I wonder how much retouching was done? Was it shot using +3 Vivid?

He's always up for a good race :) If you beat him in the GTR, you can race his Neon that I built for him. It only has 750whp with 32lbs of boost and a 100shot lol.

re retouch: It was shot in RAW and converted in Camera RAW 4.3 and then over to CS3 for some clone work in the background and some basic Kubota actions.

i dont think i can hang with the neon cause my cobra only runs 11's :P

The Neon traps 145mph on 26x8.5" slicks... it's pretty silly actually. Good to see another D80 shooting racer though :)

I have some older 133mph vids somewhere but nothing since we changed the turbo setup. The car hasn't been run since I had my son 2 years ago. I'll shoot you a link when I get them uploaded.

Chill out man, no ned to get your back up. If you read my post i did actually comment on your photos first.

Not really any need for this ^^

Very nice shots indeed. I actually prefer the rear shot to the front. Also the last interior shot is sweet.
Again, if you actually read my post ^^

I was only pointing it out because it's a common mistake. I won't comment in future.
