View Full Version : Newborn shoot

I photographed a newborn baby last night. Definitely the most cooperative baby yet to date. She slept for half and was completely happy for the rest.

All shot with the D80 and 28-70mm f/2.8 at 1/125th and f/5 ISO 100. I had one SB-800 on the camera pointing at the ceiling at 1/64th for some abient and used as the CLS commander. That fired the second SB-800 through a white umbrella at 1/4th power.

Here is one of my favorites and the rest can be seen at the link below. Thanks for looking :)

simply beautifull image

She's a cutie. And the pictures are awesome. I love the last one of her.

I'd think about keeping a collection of purtier butt covers on hand though. Diapers just KILL shots sometimes.

True,.. The plans at the time were to crop out the shots to just get the face and leave the diaper out. I wasn't exactly prepared. Definitely something to think about next time!

I love #5801. One of the best newborn shots I've ever seen. I love the open eyes, the colors, and the lighting.

That's a great shot with nice soft light. I know how hard it can be to photograph babies, my nephew isn't quite so cooperative.

Great series of baby shots, very well done.

Thank you for all of the comments :) I'm really happy with the lighting setup that I used this time.. not so happy with the camera as of late. I'm really thinking of picking up a D300.

My H likes to follow a blog and the guy bought the D300. So he sends me his posts whenever he writes about pictures. It's so hard to have him tempt me like that.....

Aw man, it gorgeous pictures like this that give ladies baby-lust! (How do you think I ended up with 7 kids?)

I love how you captured the innocence! That is totally priceless.
