View Full Version : Suggestions on indoor pic settings

Hello all,
About a month ago, I bought a Nikon D40x and wanted to run by my idea of indoor settings for this Christmas holiday; simple stuff. My first thought would be the Auto setting with red eye set, or would portrait with red eye be better. Probably 90% of the pics will be of people; there will be some shots in front of the fireplace and of course the tree. Any suggestions and thoughts would be appreciated.

Yeah, you could go with the auto settings, but where's the fun in that? Try this: shift your cameara into A (aperture priority), set it to the lowest aperture you have, turn on auto iso with a max iso of 800 and the use the pop-up flash when needed, which will probably be for almost all of your shots. However, if you are having difficulty with all that (or I completely lost you with camera-speak), feel free to go back to the scene modes sticking mostly to portrait. There will be plenty of time to learn later.
