I read D80 user manual and saw the mentioning of CPU and Non-CPU lenses.
Is the Sigma 18-50 mm Macro a CPU lens? Thanks.

I'm not sure of the designations used by Nikon or others in their lens names, but all newer lenses meant for use on digital cameras are CPU lenses. This refers to their ability to process and transmit info like metering to the camera body.

I believe that all lenses that are currently available for the Nikon mount are CPU lenses.

Non-CPU lenses are the old, discontinued AI and AI-s lenses. Those will not meter on your camera. If you had those lenses, a D200/300 or above would be better.

Every autofocus lens for Nikon is considered a "CPU" lens. Non-CPU lenses are AI-S and earlier.

Pre-AI, AI, E, and AI-S are the non-CPU lenses in the Nikon world. Anything that is AI-P or newer has a CPU.
