Will just be keeping the kit lens, camera, charger, ect in it....should this case be big enough? Or could I possibly go smaller?

Inside deminsions of the 1200: Inside Dims.: 9.38"L x 7.25"W x 4.06"H

Just looking for a little help from someone that might have one already. Thanks!

the dimensions for the D40 are:
(HxWxD) 3.7 x 5.0 x 2.5"

So the bag you have choosen will work. The rest will be based on lens and accessory choices. Congrats and hope to see some pics from you in the "Some D40 Pics" Thread. ;)

No doubt, shes awesome.

Good to know the Pelican has a good rep in the camera world then. I do a lot of traveling to car/truck shows on the east coast, so having a hard case was vital. Will be nice for my trip to Vegas next month also. :D

I've been to SEMA several times. Let's see the last time I was at Mandalay Bay was.... 1 1/2 weeks ago. That was a busy time with Madonna and the rest of the MTV crowd in town since the awards were at the Palms.

True, this will be my second year going. I went back in 04' also. Should make for a lot of good practice with the new camera. lol

One more noob question for this thread...GF is asking me if there is any other accesories that I may need for the camera starting out. Ya know, cheaper stuff for a begining thats good to have in the bag. Filters? Cleaning kit? Can anyone please give me some suggestions for the D40 with a kit lens being used? TIA

a flash unit, the sb-600 is reasonably priced. You may find a circular polarizer handy 52mm type.

Pelican Cases take a BEATING.

I have about a thousand dollars worth of flashlights in one and lets just say it doesn't get to many soft landing. No damage AT ALL. It is also almost totally waterproof!
