With the announcement of the extraordinary D3 (on paper at least) and a brace of new fast AF-S lenses, I pose this question:

Is Nikon now the platform of choice for the pro sports shooter or PJ?

I say yes - and that's from a life-time Canon guy.

It's unreal.

You've almost got to doubt if it can all be true. The d300 looks amazing. 51 point AF system (15 sensors) in a tight grid WITH color detection for tracking, 8 FPS with grip with a 900K pixel LCD with live view and AF during live view both with AF and contrast/detect method with 100% viewfinder and weather sealing 12.8 megapixel 200>3200 with ISO 6400/100... for 1799...

Holy shit.

I guess we know what nikon's been doing with all the profit from the 18-200's they've been selling.

I posted this elsewhere, but will add it here also....

That D3 has me drooling! Dual Memory Card slots... awesome!! I cant wait to test one out. Gotta wait awhile though.

I think when November rolls around, I may pick one of these up, Although I would have to get a difrerent/new FX lens to use, since my 17-55 will lower the resolution to 5MP. It all depends on the ISO performance.

I am pretty excited, though.

my D50 is going to be hitting the eBay market soon to start saving up the funds for this bad boy!:D

LOL... I think that's the 6th Buy from Here spoof I've seen in the past couple days. You'd think I'd get tired of it and just roll my eyes, but it's just too funny.

I wonder if ol' Ken even realizes the bashing he gets in the [online] photography world. :D:rolleyes:

Sweet Mother Of Pearl,

That is a beast, whats five grand and then at lest that on lenses!

Nikon may not be the new platform choice, but it looks like they are going to
make a statement! Pros need superior service and equipment to be in stock, Nikon has a rep of falling short of the mark on both accounts. Canon users will not be fast to change unless Nikon improved line up comes with an improved company as a whole.
