View Full Version : Partial flash exposure ...

Has anyone effectively used or even tried the strobascopic flash capability of the Canon 580EX Speedlight with their system?

I have been considering a night shoot, demostrating this capability, but when it cuts down the flash to 1/100th of a full burst, going off 100 times ... that's not really a heck of a lot of light per flash.

Additionally: Can you master/slave this strobe effect with two 580EXs? Kind of like double your exposure, double your fun type of thing?

Just some questions before I attempt this weird lighting stuff.

The intent is to capture an arrow, in flight, to the target face ... detailing its flight path. These arrows do go by kind of quick, so this (pardon the pun) hit or miss. Basically, this idea:

I know it's nothing original or new ... but, then again, I haven't done it ... yet.

Thanks

I am not here to give advice as I have absolutely no idea, but I like your idea. I see what your saying about the 1/100th of a full burst not being enough light. If you could get this to work I think it would be a great shot. Keep us posted M8!
