(It was terrific but it was stolen.)

Budget - $600 street
Size & weight - doesn't matter
Features - 8mp, min 4x zoom

Image quality - very important
Printing - no, but need high-quality 300ppi images for magazine ads
Features - Wide Angle, Image Stabilization, Rotating LCD, Hotshoe all desirable

It will be used primarily for stills-- controlled studio-type photography for website images. Good performance in low light/indoor situations important.

Been researching replacements, and reviews of the G7 and the G5 point out lens shortcomings; Panasonic reviews mention artifacts in pictures taken ISO 800 and above. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thx.

Metaphor-

Since you are looking for a lowlight environment camera, take a look at the Fuji F-31fd. Beyond that it looks like a DSLR.

Metaphor-

You might check on E-Bay, in the last month I have seen several Canon G-6 cameras.

Used is probably your best bet is used, especially if you want RAW, the G7 doesn't have that.
