View Full Version : Lens questions for e-500

I just purchased the e-500 two lens kit (14-45 & 40-150) yesterday after trying out a friends. Love it.
I attempt a lot of sports photography, and am looking for inexpensive, but acceptable lenses to add to my collection. Is there a relatively fast 'normal' lens for indoor shooting? I take photos of the kids basketball and volleyball games.
I'm also interested in something longer than the 150 (300) lens for outdoor photography, sports and some wildlife.
I know Olympus makes some trememdous lenses, but I don't think I can convince my wife I need to spend $1,000 for a new lens...

My background: moving up from Canon S2IS, which I loved until I tried the e-500; now i find I can't go back to it... Before the S2IS was the Olympus C-720, before that the Olympus C-2100UZ, before that Olympus OM-2s, OM-2N and OM-1. Way before that, Olympus Pen-FT (1/2 frame) and Minolta SRT-101 / SR-M.

Thanks for any tips / suggestions. My hope is to someday take at least one photo that I'd be proud to post here. The photos you post are awesome!

the more usual progression is to the 50-200/2.8-3.5

Thanks for the links. The lens that catches my eye is the 135-400 Sigma. I'll have to save my pennies... and nickels...
