I need extra batteries for my digital for an extended trip. Which do you recommend? Is it best to stick with Panasonic batteries or is Pro Power or any of the other companies just as good and reliable? What about mAh -- I've seen anywhere from 700 to 1200 mAh! Thanks so much.

I've never had any problems with 3rd party batteries...they are 1/2 the cost as the Panasonic. I usually like to buy the Lenmar batteries from Thomas Distributing. I would also stick with the same Mah rated battery.

I've bought them now for my FZ1, FZ10, 15, 30, TZ1, & FX50. No matter WHAT the mAh rating, the OEM original has ALWAYS lasted longer than the others. And they will usually promise more mAh than the original, but for me, they never deliver. I'm not saying they're bad, you just need more to replace the OEM original, IMO, than a single spare.

Keep in mind that even if these batteries are rated at 1000 or 1200 mah, they probably only charge up to about 700-800mAh depending on how well they're made.

99% of the 3rd party batteries you find on the web come from the same factory in china, they just come in different packaging.

Lenmar is pretty good, I've also never had any problems with Digital Concepts batteries.

I found em pretty cheap on www.bestlaptopbattery.com and these guys actually had the memory cards and lenses and stuff for my camera too

P.S. Panasonic OEM batteries are so good because they use Panasonic Lithium cells (some of the best quality battery cells that can be found) But for the price, its just not worth it...i'll take 3rd party batteries and keep my wallet from starving any day of the week and twice on sundays.
