I've just been given a bundle of SD cards the only problem being all my gear is CF! I wonder if anybody has used one of the SD>CF adaptors with any success or problems come to that?

Thanks...

Should work fine, as long as the SD card fits flush with the edges of the CF adaptor.

Thanks for the comments, the only adaptor that I've spotted over here is the Minolta one which I have coming. If I have problems with it I'll post my screams of anguish on this thread.

Thanks. How much did you pay for the adapter? Your post reminded me of this methodology. But a couple of years ago the adapters were over $75 and not really worth the effort. Since I now use SD for everything EXCEPT my camera this might be handy.

The adaptor is 50 but I've no doubt it will be 5 in a couple of months!!! I was given 8 512mb SD cards so its worth it to bring them into use.

The adaptor arrived today and it works fine with a Sandisk 512mb SD Card. Tried it in 2 different cameras without problems.

The Minolta SD-CF1 adapter is the only one here in the US that will work in a type I slot without any bit of the SD card protruding. It runs about $55 these days from Buy.com. I have not tried it.

Thanks I understand that there are other SD to CF adaptors but these did not clear the camera or device door. With the Minolta adaptor the SD card fits in at right angles to the adaptors pin slots and as you say does not interfere any cover the device may have.
