View Full Version : My moon shot question?

I read another link on here (listed below) and although I had my aperture to its highest (or is the bigger the number considered the lowest aperture setting) and my ISO set at 100 my moon picture with clouds came out very dark although there was good lighting around the clouds from the moon. I think I shot in the "A" mode however, should I have been in full manual? I am using a Fuji S9000. And I did have a tripod too.

First, you have to go to manual mode. The reason the moon appeared like that was because your camera tried to expose for a VERY dark frame, with a small bright object, thus resulting in the wrong metering for your intentions.

My suggestion would be to set aperture to F8, ISO to 50-100 and shutter speed over 1/40, depending on how much detail and glow you want/don't want.

There are a few moon photos in my gallery, if you want to take a look. The link is in my signature.

Try ISO 400, F 9- 11 and shutter of 125 or 100 for best results. I have got fantastic shots with these.
