hey guys, i was at the camera store the other day, and was enlightened to anothr suggestion
i keep browsing at lens, i currently have the Sigma 18-200 EX DG and was lookinga t finding an affordable 70-200f2.8.....when the guy mention a 24-105mm f2.8!!!

i really like the sounds of that range, 'cause i was looking for something like a 18-70f2.8to go with the other.....BUT
1. THAT WOULD BE TOO $$$
2. WOULD NOT NEED MY SIGMA

also, with my limited use i feel even with 200mm i SHOULD be using a tripod, so 105mm would likely be better handheld (if stuck) and you can always crop anywho!! plus for shootinig bodybuilding shows, weddings and kids hockey from ground level, 105mm would be more than enough???

so having said all that....i see there is Tokina, tamron, sigma and of course nikon, which would you recommend.....over the Nikon, which is obviously the best and more $$

ALSO, if i just add to get a wide angle, what would compliment the 24-105? although for my purpose the 24-105 could be my allarounder

thanks alot guys/girls

appreciate your input

I don't think a 24-105mm f/2.8 exists. The only lens in that range that I've heard of is the Canon 24-105mm f/4L IS lens, but that's an f/4 lens, for Canon only. There is an older Tamron 28-105mm f/2.8 SP lens, but you're losing a bit at the wide end there.

I can't really make any recommendations on lenses that don't exist, but I agree that 24-105mm f/2.8 sounds very useful for a walkaround lens, albeit quite heavy...
