I was thinking of getting a D70s with a few set of lenses. Generally my scope of work will be taking pictures of landscape/buildings, potraits, product shoots and action shots. Well, here's my list of lenses I had in mind:

1. Sigma 10-20mm f??? (I forgot the numbers)
2. Nikkor 50mm f1.8D
3. Sigma 70-300 APO DG Macro

Does all the lenses covers about everthing or I'm missing something here? BTW I'm going to buy just the D70s body alone without the kit lens, because if I go with the 18-70mm then I have to exclude either one of the listed lenses. As you can see I'm a bit constraint on the budget side.

Opinions are all appreciated. Thanks.

For your budget, those look like good options, considering what you'll be shooting. I plan on going with the Tokina 12-24 over the Sigma, but that's just personal preference :) You'll really enjoy the 50 1.8, it's a very handy lens.

I have that Sigma 70-300mm and if you want to get clear photos youll need to use at least a monopod to steady it. even in decent light. its a good lense otherwise just a lil hard to hand hold somtimes

I have used the Sigma 70-300 DG Macro (no APO) and also the Tamron 70-300 LD Macro. While I think that the photo quality of the 2 lenses is about the same, I prefer the Tamron. I think that it just feels like a more sturdy lens.

You can see some action photos taken with both lenses in the following locations, all handheld. Most of these photos were taken with the Tamron, but I know that at least 1 of the sets was taken with the Sigma.

Thanks for sharing your expertise and experience. Appreciated the comments. I'm just wandering about my choices of lenses though, is the gap between 20mm till 70mm will just do with my prime 50mm lens, or in future I still need something like the kit lens( 18mm - 70mm )?

As for the Tokina 12-24mm, I did get good reviews about it as performance vs price I would rather say a value for money product if compared to the Nikkor lens which is priced higher. Unfortunately in my area the Tokina is hard to find as compared to the Sigma. So, chances are I might go for the Sigma and get some extra wider angles.

Anyway, as usual, thank you everyone and I think it helps very much in my decision.
