Hello all,

I would like your input on what to purchase along with the D50. The current equipment on my N5005 is as follows:
Sigma AF 28-70 (3.5-5.6)
Nikon AF Nikkor 50 (1.8)
Tamron AF 28-200 (3.8-5.6)
Tamron AF tele convertor 2X
Vivitar Series 1 600N flash

Due to laziness on my part, I shoot with the 28-200 at least 90% of the time. My needs are basic photography (family, pets, vacations, etc.) and a need to shoot fire/rescue operations.

Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Just remember the 1.5x crop factor.
Your 28-200 is now effectively a 42-300 so depending on how many photos you take in the 28-40 range you may need to look a a digital lens that starts at 18mm.

You could pick up a Nikkor 18-55 quite cheap, but if you still have a film body kicking around, get a Tamron 19-35mm f/3.5-4.5.
Once you look through the viewfinder using a film body, you wouldn't want to use any other lens. It's not overly fast, but for landscapes it doesn't need to be.

The main walkaround lens on my D70 is a Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8, as it's a constant 2.8 throughout the zoom range, I find it very versatile and like the 19-35 it's not that expensive.

Paul, that signature is growing. You have built quite a collection of lenses since the N90/410.;)

I know I'll need a wide angle lens someday, it never crossed my mind to use a new lens on my old film body! I don't even have the new camera and allready I'm letting the old one collect dust:D Reading the other posts on the board I'll probably get the 18-70 kit lens from the D70 for now.

Thanks for the fast and very informative ideas!!
