I hope some of you could help me make a decision on which one of these to buy. I would really love to by the D20 but feel it is a bit much to handle at this time. So I have tried to narrow my choices between these two. What do think????

The G6 is quite evidently a better camera than the A95, I don't believe they are even comparable... This being said, the A95 is an excellent camera.

I'd say it really depends on your budget and your needs ?

If you just want to take pictures of familly at getherings and stuff like that, then is it really worth it spending that much for a camera... Are the difference between the pictures of the G6 and the A95 noticeable to you ?

I own a A95 and I am very happy with it... Would the 140mm of the G6 appeal to me? sure it would. But I judged that according to the budget I had, to my needs and judging the picture quality, the A95 would make me happier(I am super cheap when I am buying for myself).

So, what will you use the camera for ? under what conditions ?

Yes I would be using the camera for family activities but I also enjoy photography. I took a digitial photo class at the college and I really really enjoyed the class. In fact I would like to take it again or some other class (maybe photoshop). During the class I used the A85 and took some really nice photos. However I was quite jealous of a girl who sat next to me when towards the end of the class she brought in the new Nikon D70. I currently have a SLR Canon rebel (film) and thought about selling it so I could upgrade on the digitial. So that is my situation. I must say I think buying a digitial camera is one of the hardest decisions to make. I knew when I got my film slr it was quite simple Canon Rebel or Nikon N65.

I would suggest that you read all the reviews you can find on these two cameras. It's not likely you'll find anyone who has both cameras that can give you any unbiased opinion. I especially like the reviews here on the DCRP. Jeff is well known for his unbiased succinct reviews.

The G6 is the better camera but will it take better photos? No it wont, that bit is down to you :)

The A80 was a stuningly versatile camera, the A95 can only improve on that. The G6 has better image qualitys, better build, faster lens etc. but it also has more bulk and it doesnt take standard AA batterys.
