I plan on buying my camera and one lens(for now) sometime this week, camera from B&H and lens locally. I am having trouble debating which lens to get. They both look very good to me, nice and sharp, I like the reach of the 125, but love the constant 2.8 of the 18-50mm. Basically, I would be using it as an everyday "walk around" lens. Maybe for some portrait work also, ive seen some great portraits with both. I do plan on getting the Nikkor 50mm prime and the Nikon 80-200 2.8(or sigma 70-200 2.8) eventually but for now which of the 2 Sigmas would you suggest?

I don't own either but I'd say that if you are going to get the Nikkor 50mm 1.8 anyway that should take care of your low light portrait shots so I'd go with the 18 - 125.

I agree with K1W1, and have used the 18-125 DC as my everyday lens for well over a year. The 18-50 f/2.8 is an nice lens, but as a day-to-day shooter it just doesn't have the range. I find a lot of my shots are in the 90-125mm range and I have a 35mm f/2 a 50mm f/1.8 and an SB800, to take up the slack when speed and/or light are needed.
