I have a new Nikon D50. Just got my Tamron SP AF Aspherical XR Di LD IF 28-75mm f/2.8 Macro lens today. My first attempt to mount the lens was unsuccessfull and the camera wouldn't take any pictures. I can see the aperture in the VF, but when I half press the shutter release button the focus spot in the VF flashes read for a split second then nothing happens. When I press the SR button the rest of the way the picture snaps, but comes out all blury. I had no problem with my kit lens.

The Tamron instructions say it's supposed to autofocus on my Nikon thru the camera. Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong or is this just a bad lens?

Thanks

Are both the camera and the lens set to AF?

I'd check the AF switch on the side of the lens. It may have come from the factory set to MF...

Hi clickcardo, check and see if the aperture ring on the lense is set to the largest number. If not the AF will not work!

Thanks guys. There's no A/M switch on the lens, but when I set the aperture ring to min the AF kicked.
