im looking to buy a D50 but couldnt decide which lens to get

i have been reading articles for 3 hours now and still got no answer im
looking for..can someone please tell me what is the meaning, for example,
18 - 70 f/3.5 4.5
what is the meaning of 18-70?
since i couldnt figure out why there's a huge gap price of 18-50 and 18-70
and is 18-50 and 55-200 is a good combination?

please please someone help me once again thanks..

help, please ?

yes i know, i've read the lens review sticky over and over again
is it cheap because it's not "far" from the 50 range, but then again
is that mean if i have a 18-50 lens i could have a focal point from
18mm to 50mm? and also it's less expensive because
it has less optical zoom compared to 18-70? 50/18 compared to 70/18?

so if i purchase a 28-300 lens i got the 28 till 300 covered?
i mean purchasing 28-200 or 55-200 lens will be useless?

am i on the right track could someone please enlight me...
please..

I'm not going to try to explain things there are others that are far better at it than me.
Try looking at the lens reviews on Thom Hogans site

for some information. Also this page on Ken Rockwells site may help you.
