Taken with my D50 kit. Finally have learned to convert color photos into sepia ones from the latest issue of Practical Photography.:)

I'm not a fan of sepia but... I don't much like the split lighting. I know its popular nowadays but I just don't like the effect of half a face under exposed, half over.

Also there is something sticking out to the side of her left ear near the bottom in the sepia headshot. Right next to the diamond earring. I'd photoshop that out, guess it's another earring but to me its quite distracting.

Very direct feedback. I always try to point out positive and negative- to help and encourage all and alike. I like the angle of lighting and the soft tones on picture #2, as well as the subjects head angle.

Very nice shots!

One thing that I do when taking portraits is clean up imperfections. Dark freckles, pimples, and that unfortunate cold sore your model has.

Just a thought... :D
