Ok, so I have finally decided to get a D70s - now the question is just - is it worth spending the xtra over the kit on a lens like the Sigma 18-50mm 2.8 EX??

The kit price is about 1300$ here at the lowest and the d70s body + Sigma will cost me 1600-1700$

I know the 18-70 is good, but is the Sigma 3-400$ "better"? the kit sure is value for money..... and instead of getting the Sigma, I could spend that xtra cash on e.g. a good tripod or a flash...

What would you guys do? .-)

thank you!

Get the Nikkor 18-70, an SB600, and a nice tripod (or monopod). Worry about what higher end lenses you will want down the road, after you have established what you need. Throw in the ubiquitous 50mm f/1.8 (~$100) and you should be good to go.

hello and thanks for replying!

I was actually considering getting an Manfrotto 055B for the money I save by going with the kit instead of the Sigma solution.

I was also looking into getting an SB800, as it seem that the price difference will be very small if I have to buy difuser and filters for the SB600

I do not know if the Sigma flashes are any good, or if they work with the Nikon Creative Lighting wireless flash system...
