Good to see Nikon responds to this problem in a correct way, although it may give an uneasy feeling to people who are on a trip with their single D70 body.

I stumbled onto this site a while ago ... worrying about the BGLoD problem. No problems experienced yet - despite owning a March/April '04 D70. Nice to know that the nice people at Nikon have admitted that this is a problem and will now do something for sufferers.

But... not much consolation if on a trip and the dam*** thing BGLoD's on you.

I had this happen with mine in February, but Nikon turned it around quickly. According to the Nikon guy it turned out to be a rarer problem than they anticipated with some of the early models like ours (March/April 04), and most of the affected cameras have been fixed. Like all things electronic, cary a backup (pocket cam) on vacation.

Love the camera and would buy another.
