DCRP Reader Reviews

Walter Morrison (1/2/99):
This is an excellent camera for the price. I paid $130.00 for the camera and $20 for the AC unit. It is a battery hog however. I used 5 sets of batteries within 4 days of buying this camera and I knew there was a way to cut that out. I went to the Vivitar website for answers. The site suggested that you buy a NIMH batteries and a charger. I did just that and now I have no battery problems whatsoever. I also carry a spare sset of batteries just in case.

Rodney (10/14/98):
My Pretec DC-300 arrived today. This is the OEM version of the Vivitar Vivicam 2500 and the Minolta Dimage Pic. One Vivicam reviewer notes that the camera "has an appetite for AA batteries." What an UNDERSTATEMENT! I've replaced the batteries in mine TWICE in addition to the original batteries shipped with the product -- that's 12 batteries total -- after snapping only 22 pictures (18 with flash) over a time period less than 1 hour. I'm highly disgusted with this unacceptable level of power management. This thing is going right back to the manufacturer tomorrow.

Henry Smith (5/4/98):
I bought my Vivicam 2500 on Friday, May 1, 1998. It takes nice pictures and the model I have has 2 megabyte memory and a capacity of 64 pictures. It has an enormous appetite for AA batteries, and I consider the optional AC power source (which wasn't available at Multimax) an absolute necessity as the download battery drain is much greater than the picture taking drain. On Saturday, May 2, 1998, after taking fewer than 50 pictures the Play/Record switch broke. I am really hoping I just got a bad one, because the pictures are good enough for web site publishing and the 64 picture capacity is a big plus. The software is very easy to use.
