DCRP Review: Nikon Coolpix 5000 Photo Shootout
by Jeff Keller, DCRP Founder/Editor
Last Updated: Wednesday, December 19, 2001

You read our review of this hot camera, right? And saw the standard photo gallery?

I realize this isn't a perfect comparison -- after all, the Coolpix 5000 and E-10 aren't really in the same price range. But I wanted to compare the Coolpix with a very capable 4 Megapixel camera (which I just happen to own). I returned to Mission Dolores in San Francisco, which has as lot of unusual lighting situations which really test the cameras. I hope this test has some value -- please send your comments or suggestions!

Note that the lenses have very different focal ranges so it's hard to make them exactly the same.

All shots are taken hand-held at ISO 100 (80 on the E-10), no flash, auto white balance, normal quality, in Program mode, unless otherwise noted.

Clicking on the thumbnail will display a reduced, 800 x 600 image. Clicking on the link below that will show the full-size (large!) image.
