I've posted my review of the Fuji FinePix S5100 (known as the S5500 in some countries). This is a competent, low-cost ultra zoom camera.

  PowerShot G6 vs Cyber-shot DSC-V3 shootout posted
I've posted my Canon PowerShot G6 vs Sony Cyber-shot DSC-V3 shootout. For once, I think the image quality difference is pretty obvious in this comparison.

Update: I replaced some of the images with new ones taken at the same aperture on both cameras.

  Apple introduces iPod Photo
Apple's new iPod Photo is a new version of the famous portable music player which can also be used to share your photos. It has a 2-inch LCD display which can show one image at a time, or 25 small thumbnails. It can also be hooked into a television by using the included A/V cable or photo dock. Images get transferred to the iPod via the iTunes 4.7 software or the optional Belkin Media Reader, and the albums you've created in iPhoto or Adobe Photoshop Elements/Album are brought over. The iPod Photo is available in 40GB and 60GB sizes and is priced at $499 and $599, respectively.

New higher capacity memory cards from SanDisk
SanDisk has introduced new higher capacity Memory Stick Pro and SD memory cards. Memory Stick Pro cards now come as large as 4GB (but at a cost of $799 -- ouch!), while the smaller MS Pro Duo cards are now 1GB ($205). Those of you with camera that use Secure Digital (SD) cards will be pleased to hear that a 2GB card will be available next month for $199.

  Canon PowerShot SD300 reviewed!
I've posted my review of the brand new Canon PowerShot SD300 Digital ELPH. While it suffers from the same image quality issues as the S60/S70, it's still a great little camera.
Fuji sets price of FinePix S3 Pro
Fuji has finally set the price of their FinePix S3 Pro digital SLR, a camera which was originally announced way back in February. The camera body will be priced at $2499 and it will ship in December.

  PowerShot SD20 review posted
After all those big zoom cameras it's nice to review something small! The camera in question is the Canon PowerShot SD20 Digital ELPH, an ultra-compact camera without a zoom lens.

  Update on two reviews
Since a few people have asked, I figured I should just post a note here about it. First, I am waiting for the new EF-S lenses to arrive before I complete my final review of the Canon EOS-20D. Second, I decided not to review the Fuji FinePix F810 because it's so similar to the E550 which I already reviewed -- plus my schedule is overloaded at the moment. You can find a detailed review of the F810 over at DP Review.

Canon PowerShot SD20
Canon PowerShot SD300
Fuji FinePix S5100
Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z3 (per request I reshot all the Stanford photos using the 1.02 firmware)

Sony DSC-T3 won't be sold in the USA
Sony has informed us that the Cyber-shot DSC-T3 will not be sold in the U.S., citing continuing strong sales of the DSC-T1. I'm sure this will disappoint a lot of people who were excited about this camera!

  DiMAGE Z3 review posted
With today's review of the Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z3, I've completed my trio of stabilized ultra zoom camera reviews (the Panasonic FZ3 and FZ20 were the other two).

  FZ3 review posted, another updated
I've posted my review of the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ3. While not as nice as its big brother (the FZ20), this is still a very capable ultra zoom camera that costs less than $400.

In addition to that, I updated the PowerShot S70 review with a sample movie and a note about vignetting while using the flash.

Another easy review: Canon PowerShot S70
I just love writing about cameras that are near-clones of ones that I've already reviewed! That lets me crank them out really quickly. For today I've reviewed the Canon PowerShot S70, which is the same as the S60 except for the CCD, body color, and continuous shooting performance. If nothing else, check out the review to see a really cool panoramic shot taken with the S70!
Canon updates EOS-20D firmware and gets it right this time
Canon has released a firmware update for the EOS-20D, which fixes the same things as the one a few days ago, without crashing your camera. The update fixes a problem with the shutter release not working and improves compatibility with certain CompactFlash cards as well. If you did manage to install v 1.0.4 a few days ago, Canon recommends updating to 1.0.5 "just to be safe".

  Consumer Reports on cameras
I've never been a huge fan of Consumer Reports magazine's digital camera rankings, but I thought it was worth mentioning anyway. These are their top picks (in terms of overall score and best value) from the November 2004 issue:

2-3 Megapixel
1. Olympus C-740 Ultra Zoom (which has been discontinued for how long?)
2. Canon PowerShot S1 IS
3. Canon PowerShot A75
Best buys: Nikon Coolpix 2200, Canon PowerShot A60, Fuji FinePix A330

4-5 Megapixel
1. Kodak EasyShare DX6490
2. Olympus C-765 Ultra Zoom
3. Olympus C-750 Ultra Zoom
Best buy: HP Photosmart R707

6-8 Megapixel
1. Nikon Coolpix 8700
2. Olympus C-8080WZ
3. Fuji FinePix S7000
Best buys: Kodak EasyShare DX7630, Olympus C-60Z

  FinePix E550 review posted
Another day, another review. Today it's of the Fuji FinePix E550, the top-end camera in Fuji's E-series. I've still got an enormous backlog of cameras, so look for more reviews soon.
