Question A.K.A. is this a problem?

I have noticed the lower priced >com sites show the camera with the also known as name [ IXUS 700 instesd of SD500] is this any sign of a problem??

It's probably a European model rather than a US model, bought from a grey market source. Hence there may be an international warranty or the camera may have to be sent abroad for repairs under warranty. That's not a problem although the cost of shipping and insurance means that your camera will probably end up costing more than a local model if it goes wrong.
