Question A95 Vs Sd300??

I think that I've finally narrowed my camera choices down.
What is important to me is to have a camera that can take vivid, sharp, good color photos, and that can freeze action shots well.
I love the amount of controls on the A95, but the need of 4 AA batteries sets me back a bit. Do they last long? Does it make the camera noticibly heavy?
Also I heard about a shutter lag on the A95, and I'm wondering how bad it is and how noticable. It has a fast shutter mode ive read- is that any good?
I'll also be taking a lot of indoor low light pictures (like in a barn) so I need a camera that will be best for that also.
I'm not to interested in the movie mode, but since its offered, is the A95's really that bad as i have read?
I truely can't decide between these two cameras, so any advise on either one would be greatly appreciated.

One last question- has anyone had problems with the broken lcd on the SD300 that ive read a lot about? Or that error message that seems prone to canon cameras?
