Which camera to buy when travelling for an extended period?

I intend to do alot of travelling shortly (~6 months) and need a pocket sized digital camera to take and store photos until I download them in a random internet cafe.

I would like a camera with 3+ megapixels and one that doesn't require software to alllow me download photos. Ideally, I would just plug it into a non specific computer, the computer would then recognise the camera and allow me download the pictures, does such a digital camera exist?

At the moment, I have a sony digital camcorder c/w 128MB memory stick, so I would ideally like to stick to a sony digital camera. Any ideas?
