Photosmart C500, usb

Hi, until recently I uploaded my pictures from my C500 to my computer using the USB cable that came with it. I was using Win 98 and had no problems.

A few days ago I switched to Win 2000 and realized that my camera software no longer worked. I went to the HP site and upgraded the software to no avail...and learned there that the software will not run on Win 2000 if you have the USB hook up. They say the serial hook up will work.

Now, my question is: what do I do now? Is there a way to change from USB to serial? Or am I going to have to find another way to upload my pictures from my camera to my computer?
