I am still using my Canon PowerShot S400 3x zoom 4.0 Mega Pixels until I can find a more advanced camera to suit me & I'm still browsing as there are so many good buy's on the market & it's all quite overwhelming for me. The problem I'm having & could really do with some advice on is I have just downloaded my pictures off my camera onto the laptop which I then wiped the camera card afterwards but I now require them back onto the camera is there anyway I can achieve this.

You should invest in a USB (2.0 High Speed) card reader/writer. They are relatively cheap (under $20 to $30 in most stores) and will save you some battery life and headaches down the road.
Here is an example:

As long as you have not modified the original images you should be able to access them in the camera once you have uploaded back to the memory card.
I have been shooting digital for about 8 years, and have only connected a camera directly to my computer a few times, as I use card readers almost exclusively.
